Château Ambe Tour Pourret

Originally from Flanders, Françoise Lannoye has wanted to make wine since she was a child! She and her husband Philippe, who both worked in industrial real estate in and around Paris, chose to follow their passion for wine a few years ago. Their first investment was Château Lanbersac (Puisseguin Saint-Emilion) in 2001, then Château Moulin de Clotte in 2002 (Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux). Their final purchase was Château Ambe Tour Pourret in Saint-Emilion in 2007 (Saint-Emilion Grand Cru). 2015 : Françoise’s daughter, Céline, joins the family business to develop oenotourism.

Testimonial:

“I was introduced to Bordeaux wines by my family and quite naturally looked to the region to realise my dream. Twelve years ago, I followed a course at the Bordeaux Wine School then learnt a lot from spending time with members of the industry with whom I share the same ambition: to produce wines with a sense of place that gives them a soul. I am mindful of upholding the traditions inherent to each vineyard and on every property I have purchased, I have chosen to work closely with long-standing members of staff. Concurrently with this, I have equipped each property with up-to-date infrastructures, particularly small tanks for single-vineyard batches. I have also replanted part of the vineyard where rootstocks were not suited to the soil types”.

Distinguishing features:

Château Ambe Tour Pourret offers visitors a unique experience: the chance to cook some regional and seasonal specialities that are designed to pair with the château’s wines with advice from a chef. The classes are restricted to 12 participants so that everyone has access to his/her own hob and preparation area to produce either starter-main course or main course-dessert. The classes are held all year round. Visitors tour the property and take part in preparations for the meal at lunch or diner  in the château’s reception hall or shaded courtyard.
