Château Milens

Valérie Martin’s father was a farmer and her grandfather a winegrower on the Left Bank. After spending 8 years with the Accor group in Bordeaux, she chose to return to her agricultural roots. The decision was made with her husband, Ludovic who, as a wine merchant in Saint-Emilion, has a like-minded passion for wines. They run the property jointly with one very straightforward purpose: “to make very drinkable wines.”

Château Milens produces a second wine, ‘Tour du Sème’.

With the help of their technical director, Grégory Balestre, Ludovic and Valérie Martin took over the reins of this boutique 6.5-hectare estate in 2006.

Testimonial:

“We target restaurants and private customers. In the vineyard, we reintroduced tillage. Our funding is limited, so we have to use our imagination: we have trolleys to bring in the crop, like the ones used by market gardeners for strawberries… Our primary aim is that our wine be drunk at the dinner table. Nothing makes us happier than a visitor telling us he/she tasted our wine in a restaurant and enjoyed it.”

Distinguishing features:

The property only markets wines that are ready to drink. In 2015, it released the 2011 vintage.

A simple yet very compelling wine tourism project is currently in the pipeline whereby visitors will be able to enjoy a meal on the estate.
