A dinner* unlike any other!
On Sunday May 13, 21 wines and 8 wine growers from the In a Bottle Club became acquainted with 50 sommeliers from across France. The sommeliers act as ambassadors for wines from around the world and ply their trade in the top restaurants. Among them were France’s Serge Dubs and Philippe Faure-Brac, both voted World’s Best Sommelier.
It was a gamble to introduce them to wines from Bordeaux and South-West France whose reputation and price tags don’t bring tears to your eyes, but rather the authenticity exuded in the glass. These are wines that beguile with their identity, their sense of place, the spirit of their wine growers and the pleasure of passing time.
But the gamble paid off and all of them appreciated the initiative and went away in the knowledge that Bordeaux boasts some great craftsmanship. The winemakers from Oenoteam, who are familiar with the background of each wine and the wine growers, repeat over and over again how enjoyment is about discovering things that take you by surprise – the wines tasted on this occasion proved they were right.
